Thongsha Gumpha, the most established cloister in the area of Kalimpong, was set up in 1692. Prominently known as Bhutanese Monastery, this religious community is situated close to the highest point of RC Mintri Road. It was appointed under the administer of Bhutan and was built under the direction of the King of Bhutan.The present Gumpha is the redesigned one, which was built after the decimation of the first religious community by the attack of Gurkhas in Sikkim. Remade in the nineteenth century, the religious community comprises of a supplication room that has 108 petition wheels, which were all by and by brought by the Dalai Lama. Furthermore, inside the cloister there are a few paintings and frescos. On going by this religious community, voyagers can witness a few Buddhist priests and lovers offering supplications.
