Kalimpong, once a part of the Kingdom of Bhutan, Nepal and Sikkim has been an important place since the 16th century. This town has been playing an important factor in tourism since the times of the British rule. There are many British architetures that have been turned into major tourist attractions such as Morgan House, Crookety House, Dr. Graham's Home, etc. Mungpoo holds a historical importance as well as it is a place where Rabindranath Tagore, one of the greatest poet stayed for 3 years and wrote one of his famuos writings, 'Gitanjali', a collection of poems. Tinchuley is a perfect place for nature lovers, as it is surrounded by the scenic view of the hills, tea gardens, forest walks, etc.
Your car will pick you up from your pick-up point. You will start your journey via the NH10 route as you cross Siliguri and make your way to Kalimpong. You will come across many viewpoints of the Teesta river. Stop by at Teesta Bridge, connecting the North Eastern states to India. Keep following the main highway until you reach Kalimpong. Once in Kalimpong, visit Delo Eco Park. Kalimpong Science Center is close to this site. Return to the main town and stop by at any restaurant for lunch. After a nice meal, head to the main town for a walk. Visit the store for local treats, snacks and handicrafts. Check in at your homestay by evening. Rest and experience authentic Nepali food for dinner.
After breakfast, start your day with a spiritual visit to Sakya Monastery. Experience the serenity and tranquility found in here. Visit Mangal Dham Temple as well to start your day spiritually. Return to the main town for lunch at any of the local restaurants. After lunch, visit Lepcha Museum to learn about the history, tradition and culture of the native Lepchas. Visit Durpin Dara for a mesmerizing view of the Himalayan Ranges. Durpin Monastery is near this viewpoint. By evening, return to the homestay and rest for the day.
Check out from the homestay. Start your journey to Tinchuley. Once you arrive at Teesta, make your way towards Lamahatta via Peshok Road. You will reach Lamahatta after some time. Enjoy a peaceful time at Lamahatta Eco Park surrounded by the calm and tranquility of the pine trees and the view of the Himalayas. Take a short walk up hill to Lamahatta Lake. Stop by for lunch at any nearby restaurants in Lamahatta. After lunch, travel to Gumbadara Viewpoint, situated in between Lamahatta and Tinchuley. Witness the panoramic view of the Himalayas as the Teesta river flows in between the hills of Sikkim and Kalimpong. Arrive at your homestay by evening and check in. Rest as you end your day.
Check out from your homestay after breakfast. Your car will take you to Takdah Orchid Center as you cross Takdah Cantonment via the Takdah-Tinchuley Road. Watch and learn about the beautiful flora that resides in this Himalaya regions. After that, travel to Mungpoo via 6th Mile road. Upon reaching Mungpoo, visit Mungpoo Monastery. You can also visit Rabindranath Bhawan, a historical site. Stop by for lunch at any restaurant in Mungpoo. After lunch visit Cinchona Plantation, the biggest medicine plantation farm in West Bengal. Learn about how they make the quinine extracted from these plants and how they process and turn it into a medicine for malaria. Reach your homestay by evening and check-in.
Have your last breakfast of the trip and check out from the homestay. A car will drop you at your drop-off point via the NH10 route.
