Mirik is a popular destination well known for the famous Mirik Lake and the lush tea gardens. Situated at the northern side of West Bengal, this small town has gained mass popularity over these past few years. Whether it be it's peaceful monastery, the scenic landscape, the bustling town life, the fresh greenery or the calm rural life. This town has a lot to offer, being one of the oldest towns in West Bengal. Tourist rush to this area for vacations as this small hill town is recommended as one of the best holiday destination. Near the town lies the small rural villages such as Tabakoshi, Okayti Tea Estate, Golpahar, Soureni and many more. Each place has it's own unique feature including the local tea, breathtaking landscapes or adventures such as trekking and fishing. Your journey begins in Siliguri, a vibrant town located at the foothills of the Himalayas. From here, you will head to the picturesque town of Mirik, which is approximately 50 kilometers away. Enjoy the scenic drive through winding roads that offer breathtaking views of tea gardens and dense forests. Stop by at Tingling Viewpoint to take in the breathtaking scenery as you make your way towards the magical town of Mirik. Upon reaching Mirik, you can explore the Sumendu Lake, Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery, and enjoy a leisurely stroll along the charming tea gardens. You can also do various activities such as boating or horse riding. Travel to Mirik Helipad and enjoy the sunset with a cup of tea at the local tea stalls. Enjoy an evening stroll at the market place as you come across various shops that sell souvenirs and traditional handicrafts.
These rural areas include places such as Golpahar Viewpoint, Simana Viewpoint and Okayti Tea Estate. Visit Golpahar Viewpoint and Okaity Tea Estate and enjoy the view of the tea bushes as far as the eye can see. Enjoy the local tea at nearby restaurants and cafe and lose yourself as they explain you about the different types of tea and the methods used to process them. Enjoy the view of the Nepal hills at Simana Viewpoint as you stand in the Indo-Nepal border. Visit the local shops to see the goods that they have to offer such as handmade shawls, scarf and hats. On the third and final day, you will bid farewell to Mirik and commence your journey back to Siliguri. You can travel via Lepchajagat-Ghoom-Sonada-Kurseong and bask your eyes at the glance of the hill town, scenic landscapes, etc. As you head back to Siliguri, you can take in the scenic beauty one last time. Depending on your schedule, you can either return to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) or the nearest airport for your onward journey.
